Last day before you all get here...Author: Becki Mackenzie | Date: 29-07-2009 Hiya guys! As you can imagine everything's quite hectic at the moment. Everyone's been working extra hard to get everything finished in time for your arrival TOMORROW! (So exciting!) The first issue of Pulse is well under way and will be ready to be handed out to everyone as soon as they arrive. All the subcamp gates have now been set up, with some brilliant designs! Over on the activity field the climbing tower has just finished being put together, and the GDV is almost at completion. We've been really lucky with the weather so far, although there's been a bit of rain this morning it's turned out incredibly sunny, so make sure you pack the suncream!
We've taken about 200 photos alone today, and will be updating the pictures as soon as possible with the best ones. As usual, the media office is jam packed with people swapping gossip and organising posters; the internet café is up and running, seeing as the marquee finally arrived! (Yay!) Can't wait to see everyone tomorrow, its going to be crazy!
Subcamp explorationAuthor: Jimbo | Date: 29-07-2009 Hey guys and girls Only me again, hope you are all looking forward to coming to KIJ because I can tell you I am having an amazing time. With it being my first jamboree I never knew how much fun it would be considering hardly anyone is here yet. It’s been a busy day today in the office as the media team has been getting ready for everyone to arrive tomorrow. We had the marquee arrive this morning which means that the internet café is now up and running, despite me giggling at the media team who had to take it down 3 times because they forgot to put the doors on, hehe. The best bit about today though was this afternoon when Emma, Ben and Maddie took me for a walk around the sub camps. They look awesome. We met some of the people who are volunteering here and they are all looking forward to meeting you. I have even met some new friends, I thought being a giraffe I may not meet anyone but I have met a bear so if there are anymore friends coming I would like to meet you all. I'll be with the media team so come and say hello when you come and visit them because I want to make as many friends as possible. Any how i'd better sign off now and let the team have their computer back so they can carry on the good work and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Byeeeeeee. How long does it take for tents to travel over from China?Author: Heather MacDonald | Date: 28-07-2009 Everyone arrived onsite yesterday, and started getting used to our new home. The media centre soon started to fill up with equipment, computers arrived, printers, but no marquee. The place where the internet cafe would eventually be, still hasn't arrived yet. but there's still the rest of today and tomorrow to wait! We live in hope. We've started putting the daily newspaper 'Pulse' together, ready for participants as they arrive onsite on Thursday. As part of our enviro-friendly rule, we are also putting the newspaper online, readily available for on this KIJ '09 website, ready for participants, or anyone, to print off at home, rather than bringing home camp-'fresh' versions. So far, it's all going pretty well. The tents still haven't arrived.
